"My First Lotus? or Last?"

There are certainly some reasons for the Top Gear team (Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond) to give comments (criticization) on our new Proton Savvy...

"It's not a sports car, but certain elements have been engineered into the car that'll give you a taste of what it's like to drive one of the world's best handling vehicles," said Proton Group CEO Tengku Tan Sri Mahaleel Tengku Ariff. "We'd like to think of it as 'My First Lotus'"

Who ask our dear CEO to say something so absurd?

Wanna know how the LOTUS look like?

Hmmmm... Savvy has no where near to Lotus... in my view... :)

Hmmm.. It's further proof of Proton's delusion with itself. It thinks that it's damn good. Probably because of local demand. (but they forget it's popular locally because locals have no cheaper choices.)

Another is, naming the supposed Wira Replacement Model as "Gen.2". Did you notice how the ads triumphantly calls it the next generation, as if it revolutionizes the entire car industry? When in fact it's still years behind other cars. It's like some punk kid calling himself "The.King.Pimp!". Duh. What a self-aggrandizating name. And that stupid period (full stop) between Gen and 2.

You didn't mention the Savvy's ad about having a tough exterior shell. You know, I bet I know what the ad company was thinking - there is this prevailing perception that the Savvy's competition, ie the Peroduas, esp the Kancil, can be squashed like a soda can.

If you remember, the first Savvy ads about people thinking themselves fortunate for not booking "the other car", was squarely aimed at the Myvi which was launched a little bit earlier.

So, I'm sure they wanted to continue with competiting with the Peroduas, but somehow some idiot manager diluted the "Savvy vs Tin Can Peroduas" concept into the overblown stupid "Monster Attacking City and using a Savvy as an Ass Scratcher" that does not make much sense.

I hope they manage to choose a CEO that can get their act together to formulate a strong direction forward. Including establishing a clear design theme across all Protons, like successful car makers BMW and Mercedes. All the Protons now don't look like they are from the same family, but look like they are just churned out on a whim.

No one is really hoping for Proton's downfall (even though the biri-biri fuckers have conned us for so damn long with inferior and overpriced products). Proton can be so much to us Malaysians if done right.
